Lingerie Terminology

 

1.  Babydoll - A babydoll is a short nightgown or negligee intended as a nightwear for women.  The garment is often trimmed with lace, ruffles, appliqués, Marabou fur, bows and ribbons, optionally with spaghetti straps.

 

2.        Bustier - A formfitting sleeveless and usually strapless women.s top, worn as lingerie and often as evening attire. Usually includes g-string

 

3.       Corset - A close-fitting undergarment, often reinforced by stays, worn to support and shape the waistline, hips, and breasts

 

4.        Halter top - A garment for women that ties behind the neck and across the back, leaving the arms, shoulders, and back bare

 

 

5.         Sheer Lingerie . Any semi transparent or very thin knit lingerie

 

6.        Teddie -  A teddy is a form of bodysuit like lingeire.  A teddy is an undergarment which combines a camisole and panty in one piece.

 

7.          Bralette . an unlined, soft cup bra top with no underwire support

 

8.        Garterbelt . flexible cloth worn around the waist to which garters are attached to hold up stockings

 

 

9.        Bikini . underwear that reaches to the hips rather than the waist

 

10.     Thong - underwear consisting of a narrow strip of material that passes between the thighs and connects with a waistband

 

11.     Panty . short underpants for women

12.     G-String - A G-string or thong is a narrow piece of cloth or even leather that passes between the legs, usually between the buttocks, and is attached to a band around the hips, worn as a bikini bottom or as underwear by both men and women.

 

13.     Open cup bra . is a bra exposing the breast area, sometimes adorned with ribbon ties and trim lace also known as .peek-a-boo. bras
